Cosmic Microwave Background Radiation

This piece pays tribute to the accidental discovery of cosmic microwave background radiation that permeates the universe. The image is a traced and recolored photograph of the Holmdel Horn Antenna, seen below.

The background of the image is taken from the map of the cosmic radiation created by the Wilkinson Microwave Anisotropy Probe (WMAP) over 9 years of observation.

The piece was made in Adobe Photoshop CC. The telescope and figures were traced by hand. The flora on the ground was traced with the Magic Wand tool. The CMBR map was traced with Adobe Illustrator's image trace.
